Hi bloggies,
Hope you are having an absolutely fabulous start to your weekend!

Things have gone well this week and I’m excited to make it through to next Thursday AKA- start of spring break 2010! A master plan is slowly being hatched with friends near and far. I hope something spectacular unfolds.

The start of every single Friday morning I am greeted by a “Happy Friday!” text from my Dad. I don’t know exactly when this little tradition began, but it sure is cool. This month also marks his 20th year working for the same company (Go Pops go!) A celebratory dinner is in store next time I see that man. He is such a hard worker. Both of my parents are. It makes me wonder how they had such a procrastinating savvy daughter… 😉

Moving on! How about a Friday recap? Around four today (after reading, studying, eating, cleaning, and a little bit of exercise) I decided to take a little nap. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve taken a nap since starting here at school. It just doesn’t happen. Like I said, I fell asleep around four p.m. and didn’t wake up until 8:30. Big whoops on my part. I was supposed to meet a buddy on campus for some crazy spring bash shenanigans taking place. I rubbed my eyes, looked at the time, and quickly called him to apologize. Turns out he was able to able to cope on his on. Bless you alcohol college.

After enjoying some peanut butter (guilty pleasure) I gave into some internet shopping (guilty pleasure squared). Before you judge understand this is not something I frequently do. The last time I shopped for something other than groceries and cleaning supplies was in December. I’ve recently seen some other bloggers posting pictures of really cute lunch duffles from Target. I immediately knew this was something I had to get my Mom for Mother’s Day. This lady doesn’t take a second to breathe, I swear. For weeks she would pack just a can of soup for lunch, pop the lid, and sip while walking down the hall before attending to her patients (medical field work obviously f.y.i). Many days she runs on empty until finally crashing and having a quick meal late at night (this is the way I would operate for several years. It is so easy for the two of us to fall into this pattern, I kid you not).

So, I would like to introduce you to our trendy new lunch totes. I bought two (a steal at $11 a piece) and will be on her case about properly packing lunches for work.

Target’s link to product if you’re interested:

I’m so excited to go home and visit this summer! I can guarantee we’ll be the mother daughter duo strolling the beach with Jenny and our matching lunch totes. Yes, I love mama Jean that much! The green bag she’s carrying is plastic and for her shell collection. How sweet.

I also revisited Urban Outfitter’s website to check on a top I’ve had my eye on since the fall. It is a cute little blue lacy number (orig $42) that I scooped up for $15. Love it!

I won't look as aloof as her wearing it
Won’t look as aloof as she does, honest

They have a great sale going on if you want to check it out! Well, I guess that’s all for now. I promise to actually include more food in upcoming posts. Thanks for reading! xoxo

What do you like to splurge on?  (obviously I love Target and cute clothing deals)
What is the longest amount of time you’ve ever worked for a company? (Build A Bear Workshop for a good portion of a year. What a crazy time…in the name of fluff.)

Today has been a productive yet relaxing day. I love days like this! So, how about a quick picture recap for funsies. I spent most of the afternoon cleaning my apartment. I feel so refreshed after putting things in piles to keep and give away and organizing everything.

I snacked and read while taking a quick break

I had a juicy organic Granny Smith and a Chocolate Brownie Z Bar.

Some good reads for the soul. My therapist let me borrow this a few weeks ago and I’m finally finishing it up (whoops!). I’m towards the end and enjoyed the book overall. The writing is a bit repetitive. I suppose it has to be when dealing with acceptance and self-love complexities. Throughout the book she compares her Ed to an actual living being. In therapy she even role plays with an empty chair speaking to “ED” and telling him how he makes her feel. This book has some great pointers. If you don’t struggle with an eating disorder, I wonder if you still could use this therapy technique! Maybe try speaking to  perfectionism, anxiety, stress, anger… or something of that sort. It might seem a bit silly, but humanizing these struggles has helped me realize how great of a burden they are in my life. I need to take care of me. I don’t need to tend after other “people”. Do you know what I’m saying? 😉

After finishing up some chores I got down to jazz and women’s studies homework. Now I’m deciding on dinner and curled up with season five of the Gilmore Girls.

So, that was just a mini recap of the day and not anything too exciting. How did you spend your weekend?
What would you say if you could have a face to face talk wiht your struggles?

xoxo, Annie

march madness

Hey blogging world! Long time no update. Can you all  believe it’s March already? I’m a big warm weather fan myself and things are warming up here. Let me just say, most winter days here I’m in jeans and a sweatshirt. Ok, and maybe some gloves in the morning if I’m chilly. It does not compare to north-eastern cold fronts and blizzards though. When I first moved here, the front page story in February entitled “SWEATER WEATHER”. It told all the ways to appropriately protect yourself from the cold. Boyfriend and I thought it was a riot. I called up little brother spud and we had a time making up a jingle about it. I wish you could hear it! “We’re talking sweater weather…”. Stuck in my head again.

These past couple weeks I’ve been:

Trying to improve my bowling game. If you knew me at all you would know this- bowling and I don’t really see eye to eye. I have great games and I have horrible games. But it sure is fun to spend weeknights with friends getting competitive.

Last weekend Boyfriend and one of his buddies (they are living and working in another city right now) drove quite some way to visit me. I was in the middle of getting dressed to go out dancing with some friends and I get a call from him asking me some silly question or another. There was a knock on the door, I see his lips moving, and it took me a second for it to register. I am the queen of loving/hating surprises. I’m a big fan of handing them out but not of receiving them.  If you could have seen the look on my face! His friend that came along for the ride (six hour ride keep in mind) was a total sweetheart. Boyfriend bought me two cd’s (Regina and Imogen Heap) and also got a little artsy!

Annie- I love you very much. You will have an amazing life full of worldly experience.

I have less than two weeks until spring break officially begins! My plans are sort of up in the air right now. A trip to Philadelphia is in talks, staying here is a possibility boring, and going upstate riding with one of my girlfriends to visit Boyfriend and her family might be happening. Money being tight is making it tough to really travel and kick back doing something fabulous. No worries, I’ll save it for next year! When does your break start? Have any fun plans? 🙂
