countdown to summer

Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. for a little while. I’ve been feeling like a healthy food bloggie phony. When under stress I respond in one of two ways: om nom noming on whatever is around

“Why me not get royalties on this?” haha!

or restricting my intake the a few small snacks or one nightly meal. Can you guess which way I went this time?

Recently I haven’t had the motivation or appetite to prepare healthy, wholesome, and well balanced meals. Right now fruit, Luna Bars, Greek yogurt, the devil in a can Diet Coke, and the occasional on campus burrito have been my staples.

The tasks I’m facing right now are:
– Selling and donating apartment furniture
– Moving out of my college town place for the summer
– Making sure this place is spotless to I avoid being charged out the a$$ in fees
– Finding an inexpensive storage space to hold some things I’ll need until August
– Signing up for an honors doom room with my homegirl Christina for next year
– Studying for and taking each of my finals
– Finalizing summer plans (three cities and at least two jobs in four months)

All of these things can and will be taken care of. I know working myself up into a frenzy won’t get them finished faster.

Thankfully, my weekends have been the best therapy a girl could ask for.

I found a gorgeous dress to wear to escort my friend to his military ball

I got my first taste of Zumba at my town’s Relay for Life- loved it!

Had some unnexpected visitors

Went to an Earth Day festival on the most beautiful spring day

What keeps you motivated to stick to your goals and keep a positive attitude? 🙂

    Hey,
thank you so much for your comments on my blog.
I will definetely follow your blog, you seem like a great person!
    What keeps me motivated?
To feel that I make progress, that I am moving in the right direction. Even if a huge part of me is scared of seeing the numbers on the scale get higher, I also need to see it in order to feel like what I am doing is worth it. That I can get healthy.
And, this is perhaps a bit silly, but buying some new clothes also helps a lot. Just to see that I am beautiful, and if I keep gaining I will feel even better about myself 🙂

Whoa, a lot of things heading your way…Wishing you all the best!

I think what gives me motivation and a positive attitude, is just to try to ENJOY whatever I’m doing right now, no matter how much I may not want to do it. Since I’ve got to do it anyway, might as well make the best of it, right?

The simple black dress is always the best route to go when in doubt. Not saying you were in doubt though, haha. Girl don’t get too overwhelmed and sacrifice your nutritional needs. I know I have 1 week left for finals and I am having trouble eating normal meals as well. But when I eat smaller snacks to replace meals, my mind cannot study properly. So I hope you can get everything you want accomplished and take care of yourself in the process. 😀

Sometimes I get really stressed out. I just step away from the situation if possible and go for a run to clear my head, read a book to get caught in another story and I talk to someone about it.

My little trick about stress-eating, according to the book I’m reading currently, is that once you say “no” to an unhealthy food or craving, it will become easier to say no and eventually you won’t care about the craving anymore.
